This is a steal! Great optic package. I have a Aimpoint compm2 with a Knights armament mount and I like the Vortex nearly as well, and I like the price 3x as well! This whole package with the included mount is as much or less then my mount on my Aimpoint! With that being said this optic suffers from two minor faults that others have noted. One is the on off switch. It is easily bumped and turned on. The second are the flip up covers can be difficult to close properly. These are minor faults and in now way should keep anyone from buying this optic. The on off issue is remedied by taking the battery out during transport and the second is to apply a bit of grease to the caps. this will help to close easily.
The redot only version has a much brighter dot and is the one I chose. I Also have one with the low mount on my AK. The low mount places the scope much closer to the barrel and will work in either the scout position or above the dust cover with a UTG or other AK scope mount. The AR version with the high mount is perfect on my AR and co-witnesses my iron sights perfectly.
I would buy this Red dot sight all day and twice on Sunday. Plus Vortex has a lifetime warranty and great costumer service. Made in china yes, but serviced by a good people right here in the USA. Is it as good as my Aimpoint? It's close and for the price, that puts it above the mark. One more mention about the Lifetime warranty. Its for the life of the scope and not the original buyer, so the warranty is transferable. That's a big deal! I got mine from Shoppers choice on Amazon. Great people to deal with! Will Buy again from them.
Not quite as good as an Aimpoint or even EOTech but at this price, you can buy 4 to 6 of these Vortex for the same cost as one of the 'top' brands and there is not very much difference for 99% of users. I have all three styles and am very pleased with the Vortex.
The red only gets brighter than the red/green version, some complained that the red on the red/green version doesnt get bright enough but I have not had an instance of too dim dot on this red only in bright BRIGHT sunlight.
